Parramatta River, and Georges River, traverse the main part (or jersey). The Darug People have been paying tribute to Parramatta River. This river was used as a gathering spot by many clans, not just as food.
Pemulwuy has been called a great Aboriginal Worrier. In his memory, the Georges River was given its name. He was just north of Georges River when he was born. Pemulwuy refers to a Darug term which means earth/clay. He was well-known for being a “clever person” who fought hard for the rights for his people.
Pemulwuy led around 100 Aboriginal Warriors into Toongabbie Government Farm in 1797. This battle is known as “the battle to Parramatta”. Pemulwuy was shot seven times during battle. The settlers took Pemulwuy in to the hospital to show respect. These brave soldiers fought tirelessly against colonists for the land.
Parramatta Eels refer to the players represented with the U-shaped, in aquablue, running alongside a river. They are the warriors who bring people together to offer support.
The jersey back of the Parramatta Parramatta player is located at bottom right. The Parramatta Club, players and their families meet at the bottom right. Journey lines connect the club with players and their connection home. To keep their cultural connections alive, it is essential to keep the family connection open.
